July 2012 Meeting

Dear Lay Dominicans and Inquirers:

Our next meeting will be on July 8th at St. Albert the Great Priory, located across from the Seminary and adjacent to the University of Dallas.

Our topic will be Spiritual Direction, presented by Cheryl Denise Pumphries.  She will be drawing on the teachings of St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, and largely basing her talk on the book she recommends: “Spiritual Direction in the Dominican Tradition.”  There is no pre-meeting reading expected, but if you would like further reading the optional book information is  below.

Our schedule for the 8th is as follows:

10:00  Inquirers class in the library
10:50   Liturgy of the Hours in the library, bring your prayer books/prayer apps or we can share
11:15:  Mass in the Chapel
12:00 or after Mass:  General meeting in the library
1:00:  Enjoy our sack lunches together!

Inquirers are welcome to join us for any or all parts of the day!

Looking ahead, there is an evening event on the feast day of St. Dominic on August 8th at University of Dallas.  Information about the event is on our website, dallaslaydominicans.com.

We will have our Annual Day of Reflection on August 18th, this year with our own Fr. Jude.  This will be in place of the regular meeting for August.  Possible topics/themes will be discussed over lunch on the 8th.

We lately have had several inquiries about our group.  I would like to invite everyone to join us, and encourage all members to attend our meetings!
Yours in Christ,
